Here you will find basic information about Davis Friends Meeting and about Quakers in general. We encourage you to visit us in person by attending Meeting for Worship, which is held each Sunday at 10:00 AM at 345 L Street, Davis, CA. You can also contact us.
We look forward to meeting you!
Worship: We meet on Sundays from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with hymns from 9:40 AM until worship begins.
Meeting for Business: This meeting is held on the second Sunday of most months, following light refreshments served in the entry area. All are welcome. We make decisions by seeking unity of those present. Unity is different from consensus. Unity, as Quakers use the term, implies spirit-led decision making. Responsibility for the good of the order falls to all of us.
Community service opportunities include opening the Meeting House for the intake procedure of the Interfaith Rotating Winter Shelter. The IRWS, an organization of several Davis churches, provides for the unsheltered in Davis supper, fellowship opportunities such as games, movies, and general conversation, and overnight shelter. The program operates every evening from late fall to early spring.
We also support the Davis Community Meals program on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. We either arrive at the site early to help set up for the meal and serve or during the meal to help with cleanup. The Community Meals are served at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church.
